David Kuzio, of Preston, was heading east in a Volvo on Dover Road in Easton when he crossed the center line and hit a Chevrolet Silverado head-on Friday evening, Feb. 2, Maryland State Police said.

The impact caused the Silverado to hit a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 24-year-old woman, police said.

Kuzio was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver and sole occupant of the Silverado, a 50-year-old man, was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, while the Malibu driver was taken by ambulance to Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge for treatment of her injuries.

Dover Road was closed for more than 3 hours for the crash investigation. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to assist with the road closure.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Kuzio's obituary says he graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in Pennsylvania in 2009 and went on to become a professional chef.

Kuzio had been working for BluePoint Hospitality Group in Easton, giving him the "freedom to be creative and explore numerous opportunities to showcase his work to culinary icons," his obit reads.

"One of the highlights of his time there was getting to work alongside his friend and head chef, David Kneller; they were able to serve a meal to the world-renowned chef, Jose Andres, who left extremely impressed with not only the menu that they created, but also the quality of the meal that they presented to Chef Andres."
